Polar heart rate monitors for weight loss

I would like to add a little support as a person who has had a lot of trouble losing weight over the years?  Using the Polar heart rate monitor was the MOST motivating step I ever took to help me manage calories and activity.  I don’t understand why doctors don’t hand these out to every overweight person who comes into their offices.  With the tangible evidence of how much energy I’d really expended by meal time, I was able to really monitor my calories honestly for the first time - consistently, and to increase my activity level - consistently.  It just makes so much sense.  I don’t think many people realize how few calories they are really burning when they are just sitting.  Looking at my wrist after a day spent knitting and realizing I’d only burned 900 calories was a wake up call - if I wanted dinner, I’d better go for a walk!
